Satoshi2135 fan favoritesExternal profileAsh Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the japanese animation, Pokémon. There are also incarnations of him in the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, the Pocket Monsters Zensho manga, and the Ash & Pikachu manga. He is loosely based on the male protagonist of the Pokémon Red and Blue. The family name "Ketchum" is a pun of the anime's former tagline and slogan "Gotta catch 'em all!" At the beginning of the series, Ash was 10 years old. In the short called "Pikachu & Pichu" which was attached to Pokémon 3: The Movie, he said the day when the events depicted in the short took place was the day he met Pikachu, meaning his age at that time would be at least 11. However, two seasons later, the official Japanese Pokémon website reported that Ash was the same age as May, who was 10 years old at the time. This and the fact that the two are at the same height suggests that none of the characters have aged since the show began, placing the Pokemon anime in a floating timeline. Ash is a caring and valiant trainer but he can be confident to the point of arrogance and is known for being stubborn at times. He also has quite the reckless streak, which has led him to troublesome situations and even near death. But when in a Pokémon battle, he is highly competitive, and he shows tremendous presence of mind, taking advantage of the battlefield as well the nature of his and the enemy Pokémon's moves to claim victory after victory, though he has been known to lose from time to time. Ash has matured greatly over the course of the series, and has considerably improved his abilities as a trainer, but his earnestness and determination remain the same. During the first season of the series, Ash trained to catch more Pokémon than his childhood rival, Gary Oak, although Gary has caught more. He soon begins to focus more on each of his Pokémon's abilities. He also impresses many trainers by winning battles in which his Pokémon has a type disadvantage. At the Johto League Silver Conference Ash finally won a battle against Gary. Throughout the anime, Ash has met a number of rivals, including Richie, whom he faced in the Indigo League, and Casey, a diehard Electabuzz fanatic. During Pokémon tournaments, Ash has made rivals out of Harrison, Jackson, Morrison, and Tyson (the last of which went on to become the champion of the Hoenn Pokémon league). Near the beginning of Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl, Ash meets an arrogant young trainer named Paul, who quickly becomes his new rival. Ash's primary nemesis is a group of comical antagonists named Team Rocket. Ever since the second episode, "Pokémon Emergency!" two Team Rocket operatives named Jessie and James, along with a talking Meowth, have always tried to steal his first Pokémon Pikachu but have always failed. There are some occasions when they work together like the Pokémon: The Movie 2000. Ash's mother is Delia Ketchum (Hanako in Japan). She is a caring and thoughtful woman, though occasionally oblivious as her son, and in the English version of the anime often pesters him to change his boxer shorts every day, a gag throughout the early episodes of the first few series. The identity of his father has remained unknown. One reference to him exists in the anime. During a phone conversation between Ash and his mother in the second episode, she states to her amazement that he got from Pallet Town to Viridian City in one day. "It took your father four days to get there when he started Pokémon training," she says, "He'll be so proud!" A line from the play, Pokémon Live!, suggests that Delia, at one time, had a relationship with the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni when she was a teenager, but in the anime, no evidence of Giovanni being Ash's father has been shown currently. In the episode "Showdown at Dark City," Ash went by the name of Tom Ato (tomato) after spotting some ketchup that Pikachu was eating. He had to disguise his name, so that his real name would not get a bad reputation, since he was dealing with the rivaling Yas and Kas gyms. Ash was based off Red, a playable character from the generation l games, Pokémon Red, Blue and Green, he was also based off Satoshi Tajiri's childhood self.
Pikachu1840 fan favoritesExternal profilePikachu is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur. A female Pikachu has a "V"-shaped notch at the end of its tail, which looks like the top of a heart. It is classified as a quadruped, but it has been known to stand and walk on its hind legs; therefore, Pikachu is a facultative biped. Pikachu stores electric energy using the small pouches in its cheeks in case it is attacked, so one might feel a small shock if it is touched. These pouches become electrically charged during the night as it sleeps, so a dozy Pikachu may occasionally discharge electricity after waking up. If it does not get enough sleep, it will not be able to release said electricity at its full power. When angered or threatened, Pikachu quickly unleashes the electric energy from its cheeks, which can reach the intensity of a lightning bolt. This also serves as a sign that it's wary, and it will feel stressed if it's unable to fully release the electricity. In Sparks Fly for Magnemite (EP030), Pikachu is shown to accumulate energy in its glands, which it will need to eject to avoid complications. When several Pikachu form a group, they are capable of causing thunder storms by building up electricity. If one Pikachu sees another one who is weakened and in need of help, it revitalizes it by recharging it with an electric shock. In Alola, a plan was recently announced to help build an electric power plant by gathering many Pikachu. If its cheek sacs are very soft and stretchy, this means that it can generate powerful electricity. As shown in Pokémon Sleep, Pikachu is known to emit electricity through its cheeks while sleeping, perhaps because it's dreaming of firing electric shots. Pikachu is a curious, playful, and intelligent Pokémon who primarily eats fruits and roasts Berries with its electricity to make them tender enough to eat. However, it can end up accidentally burning them too much if it underestimates the intensity of its charge, as it has a tendency to blast new things it finds. In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, it is also depicted eating and sometimes destroying telephone poles, wires, and other electronic equipment. Pikachu raises its tail to monitor its surroundings and bites people who yank it, as it does not like having it pulled. While doing this, its tail is sometimes struck by lightning. Wild Pikachu live in forested areas away from people and with others of its kind in nests, as seen in the Pokémon the Series episode Pikachu's Goodbye (EP039). Such forests are dangerous, though, as trees there are often struck by lightning. When Pikachu meet, their tails make contact and they exchange electricity through them to greet each other. Relatedly, in A Plethora of Pikachu! (SM091), it is shown that Pikachu from Alola are known to greet each other by sniffing one another and rubbing their tails together. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, it is considered exceptionally rare, though it seems to be a quite common Pokémon in other forms of media. Many Pokémon Trainers prefer Pikachu's cute appearance over Raichu's, which is why the latter is not commonly seen among them. Because of the popularity of Pikachu-themed merchandise, dresses itself in a Pikachu cloth in an effort to look less scary and make friends and appease its loneliness. Unfortunately, its creepy costume only ends up doing the opposite. By occasion, Pikachu can get unintentionally swallowed by . While startled, it looks for ways to escape from the latter. Pikachu, along with Pichu and Raichu, is related to . Forms Pikachu has sixteen additional forms that fall into four groups: Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, the partner Pikachu, and Gigantamax Pikachu. Additionally, many other Pikachu variants have appeared in various media. Cosplay Pikachu Cosplay Pikachu is always female, has a black heart-shaped spot at the end of its tail, and can be dressed in any of five outfits corresponding to the five Contest conditions. Pikachu in a cap Pikachu in a cap is always male and has eight variants, each wearing one of Ash's hats from Pokémon the Series. Pikachu in a cap is the only known Pokémon capable of using the Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Pikachu in a Cap cannot use Catastropika or Gigantamax. Partner Pikachu The partner Pikachu is the Pokémon the player starts with in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!. This Pikachu can be either gender. It has higher base stats than normal Pikachu. Unlike other Pikachu, the partner Pikachu can learn the exclusive moves Zippy Zap, Floaty Fall, and Splishy Splash, as well as having access to the Partner Power Pika Papow. The partner Pikachu is not differentiated from standard Pikachu in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!'s Pokédex, and it cannot be transferred out of the games. Gigantamax Pikachu As Gigantamax Pikachu, it becomes larger and chubbier. Its tail becomes longer and becomes capable of storing all of the electricity it generates, causing it to glow a bright yellow and enabling it to become as powerful as a lightning strike. Three red clouds float around the tail. Its power is equal to that of a power plant; however, it is difficult to use it in peoples' homes since Pikachu can only remain in its Gigantamax form for a short time. Mr. Windychu & Ms. Wavychu Mr. Windychu and Mrs. Wavychu will be characters in Pokémon Winds and Waves respectively. They resemble a tanned Pikachu with clothes similar to the playable character. No further information is known. Evolution Pikachu evolves from and evolves into . In Alola, it evolves into Alolan Raichu. Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu in a cap, Partner Pikachu, and Pikachu with the Gigantamax Factor cannot evolve. (Source: Bulbapedia)
Takeshi685 fan favoritesExternal profileTakeshi is known as "Brock" in the English Pokémon series. He is the former gym leader of Nibi (Pewter) City who gives up his position to travel with Satoshi (Ash) and Kasumi (Misty) on their journey to catch Pokémon. He aspires to become a top class breeder. He has a weakness for pretty girls and ends up either getting dragged away by Kasumi, Max or stabbed by his Croagunk. At the end of Diamond and Pearl, he's decided to part ways from Dawn and Ash to become a Pokemon Doctor.
Haruka304 fan favoritesExternal profileMay, known as Haruka in Japan, is a character in the Pokémon franchise, a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, toys and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. In the anime, May is usually seen wearing a red bandanna with a white Poké ball logo, a red-and-blue shirt, a pair of white, blue-tipped gloves, a pair of red-themed shoes with a pair of matching black socks and a navy-blue pair of cycling shorts partially covered by a white miniskirt. She also wears a yellow pouch around her waist. At the age of 10, May traveled from her hometown of Petalburg City to Littleroot Town to see Professor Birch, the authority on Pokémon in the Hoenn region. As a friend of her father's, he had agreed to give her one of three Pokémon; a Treecko, a Torchic, or a Mudkip, so that she could become a Pokémon Trainer. However, when she arrived, she found that the Hoenn Pokémon Professor had gone after an ill Pikachu belonging to Ash Ketchum. She went to look for the Professor, only to find him stuck in a tree and about to be attacked by a group of angry Poochyena, mirroring the beginning of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. His only hope was for May to get a Pokémon out of his bag and use it to fend off the Poochyena. However, May, who was inexperienced at commanding Pokémon, only got water sprayed in her face by the Mudkip she pulled out. Professor Birch then commanded the Mudkip and scared off the Poochyena. The experience was less than pleasant for May. After they found Ash, the group was attacked by Team Rocket. In an attempt to get rid of the criminals, Pikachu accidentally fried May's bicycle to a crisp, reminiscent of the first episode of the series in which Pikachu fried Misty's bike, giving Misty a reason to follow Ash around for the rest of the series. The audience was led to believe that May would decide to follow Ash for the very same reason. However, the next morning, after choosing Torchic as her starter Pokémon, May stared at the charred remains of her bike in a remorseful fashion, only to shrug it off and say, "Eh, who cares?" She decided to accompany Ash so that she could have a traveling companion to show her the ropes. When the group reaches Rustboro City, May decided that instead of collecting gym badges, she would dedicate her efforts completely to Pokémon Contests. Since then, she has won several ribbons in most of the Contest halls she has traveled to. May has a rivalry with a Pokémon coordinator named Drew (or Shū in Japanese), who appears at every contest that May participates in, which is often compared to the rivalry that Ash had shared with Gary Oak. She also has a rivalry with a Cacturne obsessive named Harley. While Ash and Brock went to Sinnoh, May chose to follow her rivals to Johto instead. Current Pokemon on Her Team:Other Pokemon:
Rayquaza29 fan favoritesExternal profileRayquaza is a large, green, serpentine Pokémon that also resembles a missile. It has red-tipped, rudder-like wings on its shoulders and down its body, and similarly patterned fins on the tip of its tail. Yellow ring-like symbols run across the length of Rayquaza's body and it has an additional yellow ring on top of its head. Rayquaza has two limbs with three-clawed hands, and two long, flat, horn-like structures on its head, with two shorter horns along its jawline. It has small, yellow eyes with black pupils, prominent pink gums, and two discernible fangs in its upper jaw. Rayquaza is said to be an equal to both and Kyogre. Befitting its righteous nature, several millenia ago, it halted their clashes and forced them back into slumber, even in their Primal forms, and sealed them away in the Seafloor Cavern, restoring order to nature in the process. For this, it was worshipped by the Draconid people, who refer to it as "Lord Rayquaza" and their "Dragon Lord" in Pokémon Adventures, as the savior of the Hoenn region. Thanks to its weather manipulation powers, it can cancel out weather effects. It has a strong and endless desire to do heroic deeds for the Pokémon world. Rayquaza has resided in the ozone layer for millions of years, where it feeds on water, meteoroids, and other particles. It is rarely seen by people; even in flight, its appearance is indistinguishable from that of a meteor. It is capable of breathing in outer space beyond the ozone layer. It loves Rayquaza Treats made by Snacksworth, who once encountered it in the past. Rayquaza possesses a strong rivalry with the extraterrestrial, Mythical Pokémon, , that repeatedly invades its territory on its way to the Pokémon world, with the two often clashing with each other in space. This is depicted in the movie Destiny Deoxys (M07) and in the games Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, and Masters EX. Forms Rayquaza can Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza. As Mega Rayquaza, its body becomes longer and gains more features. Its head becomes longer with the Δ (delta) symbol appearing on its forehead. Rayquaza's eyes now contain yellow pupils with red irises, and black, shichishito-shaped markings trail behind its eyes. Its red lips and teeth become gold, and the gold lines connect to those on its lower horns, which take on a broad, triangular shape. At the outer edges of its lower horns are long, golden, glowing filamens that each extend to a green, fin-like structure; these filaments have ring patterns that strongly resemble the yellow markings running along the length of Rayquaza's normal form. While in flight, these filaments give Mega Rayquaza a triangular profile. Its two upper horns become longer with a gold line running over them in a V shape, and each upper horn has another glowing filament that ends in a circular shape with a spike. Along the length of its body are golden, glowing orbs placed where its ring patterns used to be. The chin, part of the neck, and parts of its serpentine body are changed to the color black. The fins running along its body are now marked with gold lines; the fins on its tail become entirely yellow and substantially longer. According to the Draconid people, Rayquaza was the first Pokémon to ever Mega Evolve. In its honor, they built the Sky Pillar, where they guarded the rainbow stone that granted Rayquaza the power to Mega Evolve and recorded its many feats on the murals. Unlike other Pokémon, Rayquaza does not have a corresponding Mega Stone to Mega Evolve; instead, it has an internal organ that fills the same role. A Devon Corporation scientist named it the "mikado organ" (Japanese: ミカド器官) and proposed that the combination of its meteoroid diet and own internal energy creates an effect similar to a Mega Stone; this effect, however, is not everlasting, and Rayquaza needs to keep eating meteorites in order to be able to Mega Evolve. The filaments sprouting from Mega Rayquaza's jutting jaw are made of particles that can control the density and humidity of the air, allowing it to manipulate the weather, mainly in the form of strong winds that fill the air and reduce the damage Flying-type Pokémon receive from super effective attacks. Mega Rayquaza is said to have been born from humanity's wish for salvation channeled through a huge meteorite. It is thought that occurrences of Rayquaza Mega Evolving led to the mechanism behind Mega Evolution to be known, which led to the current theory of Mega Evolution. Mega Rayquaza has enough power to repel the Primal forms of Groudon and Kyogre by sapping up their power with a blazing light and whipping wind. It is also capable of destroying meteors over six miles in diameter. It has been referred to as "Δ (Delta)". There have been sightings of Mega Rayquaza flying gracefully in the sky, resembling a shooting star streaking across the night sky after a meteoroid. (Source: Bulbapedia)
Deoxys20 fan favoritesExternal profileDeoxys is a bipedal, humanoid, extraterrestrial Pokémon that has four forms, each focused on a different stat. On its chest, there is a purple, crystalline organ, which is said to be its brain; as seen in Destiny Deoxys (M07), this organ can appear in other colors, namely green. It has a light blue, oval pattern with a purple stripe running down the middle on its face; white, circular eyes set inside black, rectangular eye sockets; and three light blue dots arranged in a triangle on its back. Deoxys is the result of a mutation of an extraterrestrial virus caused by exposure to a laser beam. It is highly intelligent and can fire off lasers from the crystalline organ on its chest. While inactive, Deoxys takes the form of a triangular stone tablet. Deoxys is said to appear where auroras are seen and causes one to appear when changing forms; in Destiny Deoxys, the aurora's electromagnetic wavelengths are used to communicate with other Deoxys, and other sources of electromagnetism were shown to obscure its vision if given off in great amounts. Moreover, in the same movie, it demonstrated the ability to regenerate any part of its body that it lost during battle and to create clones of itself, a trait also depicted in Pokémon Adventures. The clones are much duller in color, lack eyes or the organ on their chest, and seem to be unable to transform. Deoxys possesses a strong rivalry with , with the two often clashing with each other in space, as depicted in several media. During Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's Delta Episode, Deoxys was coming towards the planet inside the Grand Meteor Delta. Forms Deoxys has four forms: Normal Forme, Attack Forme, Defense Forme, and Speed Forme. As seen in various media, Deoxys can transform into any of its four forms willingly or when exposed to a Meteorite. Deoxys will change its forms depending on the situation, mainly staying in Normal Forme when not in danger. Normal Forme In its Normal Forme, Deoxys has tapering legs with a segmented, vertical, blue stripe on the upper portion. The abdomen is black with vertical lines, while the majority of its skin is reddish-orange. The arms are capable of taking different forms, usually a pair of tentacles coiled in a double helix. One tentacle is the primary skin color, while the other is light blue. Alternately, it can morph its tentacles into more humanoid arms with a red top and blue underside and a five-fingered hand. This Forme has a blunt protrusion with a single blue stripe on either side of its head and stubby tail. It is the most balanced form. Attack Forme While in its Attack Forme, Deoxys's legs remain tapered. However, its blue stripes are no longer segmented and run the entire length of the leg and there is now a large spike on the knee. Two pairs of whip-like tentacles with pointed tips, one reddish-orange and one blue, replace its previous coiled, blunted tentacles. The protrusions on its head are now triangular with an additional one extending from the top of its head. Most of its reddish-orange skin has receded, revealing a striated, black chest and abdomen. Finally, its tail is now longer and more pointed. It is the most offensively powerful form and is said to possess an aggressive disposition. Defense Forme Deoxys's Defense Forme has bulky, wide legs that are somewhat flat at the end with a bluish-green spot on each knee. It retains its two pairs of red and blue tentacles, but they are now flat and broad. The head has fused with its body and all protrusions are gone, causing it to resemble a helmet. The reddish-orange skin now covers the entire body, so none of its inner black portions are visible. There is now a single blue stripe on each shoulder, and its tail has disappeared. It is the most defensively capable form. Speed Forme The Speed Forme of this Pokémon has a sleek black body with thin striation. The reddish-orange skin now covers only its head, hip joints, and the area around its crystal. There is now only one tentacle on each side of its body, one red and one blue. The protrusions on its head now point upward and the back of its head now forms a long spike. There is a long, thick blue stripe running down the center of this longer protrusion. More blue stripes appear on either hip joint and on its legs. It possesses the greatest agility out of the four forms. (Source: Bulbapedia)
