About this title

Synopsis

This is about the love story between the demon prince Laures and the human girl Hilda. Hilda is the reincarnation of Ellis, who was prince Laures' lover. To save her, Laures sacrificed himself and became a demon, but Ellis was eventually murdered and her soul reborn as the young dancer Hilda. In her current life, Hilda has no knowledge of herself being "Ellis." She is unable to decide between Laures and Roderique. But that's not the biggest problem. Laures' servant and deputy tries everything to bring his beloved king back into the demon world and wants to part Hilda and Laures. Laures is the main character. His ears look like dragon wings. Besides his fangs and his long nails, they're the sign that he is a demon. He introduces himself as 'Makai Kôshaku' that means 'Prince of the Demon World'. But in reality he is the 'Makai Kôtei', 'Emperor of the Demon World' as it is revealed in the sixth volume. That makes him the most powerful demon of all. A long time ago Laures let himself be turned into a demon in order to free his lover's soul from a demon's curse because he felt guilty that Alice, the woman he loved, became the demon's victim. In reality the demon wanted Laures but the young prince was unassailable so that the demon turned his attention to Laures' sole weak spot: Alice, the girl Laures loved. After freeing his lover's soul he promised to wait for her until she will be reborn, so that they can be united. Laures has been waiting until Alice's soul was reborn in Hilda, unfortunately without any memory of her previous life. He killed the tribe of the Azel and erased Hilda's memories so that he could win her love. He has buried the holy sword of the Azel inside her body so that she would be the only person in the world who could slay him. He is fighting against Roderick because both men love Hilda and because Rod is the last of the Azel and destined to wield the holy sword and bring Laures down. He is not killing people out of pleasure, but he's willing to do everything, absolutely everything, to reach his goal or to protect Hilda even if it means mass murdering. Smart, lovely, and delicate, Hilda is the main female character. She has pretty, long, yellow hair and child like features. When the manga begins, she is a dancer in a performing music group that plays at local bars. She is loved by many because she is kind, loyal, and has a pure heart, but her pretty eyes are often clouded with tears and pain. She cannot comprehend why she is attracted to such an evil man like Rauresu, specially since Rodrique, whom she knew since childhood, loves her dearly. She finds that she likes both men, but still her heart cries out for the Demon Lord. No voice actors have been added to this character. Rodrique (or "Rod" as he's more commonly called) is the last of the Azel tribe, who were wiped out by Laures and his demon army when he was a child. He thus carries the power of the tribe with him, and has trouble controlling these powers. He tells Hilda that she is his former lover, although being an amnesiac she does not remember anything. He *loathes* Laures, not only for wiping out the Azel village, but also because the reason Hilda has no memories is because they are sealed by Laures' powerful magic. He swears to kill Laures to avenge his people and to win Hilda back. He is ooften accompanied by his little brother Rabi and companion Asubaru. No voice actors have been added to this character. Kauron is the young lord of Hades, where he lives with his younger sister Iria, whom he cares for deeply. He has the ability to make "life flowers," which can control a person's life or death by destroying the flower. He wishes to "purify" the world (I'm not going to say how, I said I wouldn't put too many spoilers in this section), and manipulates other demons in order to do so, especially Zadei, using Teteiyusu's life flower.
