Synopsis

This is a story of four girls living in the "Dark Side" of Academy City. In Academy City where "ESP" has been recognized as a general science. Behind the peace, there is a Dark Side organization that undertakes missions that cannot be made public. "ITEM" is an elite unit consisting of four girls. Takitsubo Rikou is able to read and track the AIM fields emitted by those with abilities. Frenda Seivelun, who excels in combat using explosives and traps. Kinuhata Saiai, who can manipulate nitrogen at will and plays a defensive role. And one of the 7 Espers that Academy City is proud of: Mugino Shizuri. Frenda Seivelun is a member of team ITEM. She is one of the main combatants of the team, though not having any apparent esper ability of her own, she makes up for it with her incredible prowess in close-combat, as well as expertise in traps and concealed weaponry. It is revealed that she has a little sister by the name Fremea Seivelun. She and ITEM's leader Mugino Shizuri have a sort of a master-servant relationship, with Frenda usually being scolded for her fits of unprofessionalism at work. Out of combat, she seems to enjoy talking about ordinary things girls her age would talk about, she also values her legs highly, saying that it is her pride as a woman. In battle, though, her moves can be difficult to read as her humorous remarks often serve as a diversion; this in turn, combined with her cunning style of combat, can prove to be a deadly combination. She is also somewhat vicious and blood-thirsty nature, indicating that she enjoys taking away the life of someone as if she was destined to end them.

She is ranked #4th and has the ability "Meltdowner". She can retain "pure" form of electrons (fix them in an ambiguous state which is neither a particle or a wave, and manipulate them into a beam which can melt down pretty much anything. She is also the leader of ITEM, the underground peace-making organization. Mugino's appearance may suggest she's gentle and kind, but in reality she's a sadistic, battle-hungry fighter who looks down on all she deems weaker. She shows a compassionate face towards her teammates, although she would dispose them if they interfered in her way.

She is a member of ITEM, led by Mugino Shizuri. Despite being a powerful Psychic, Saiai is one of the most mellowed-out characters in the group; she isn't a screw-up like Frenda, nor is she as frightful as her leader, Mugino. She enjoys bad movies and likes to tease others, Shiage in particular because of his reaction to anything sexually suggestive. She also likes to add "super" (超, chou) to her remarks. Her ability is the Level 4 Offense Armor (窒素装甲, Chisso Soukō?, lit. "Nitrogen Armor"), which she uses to control the nitrogen in the atmosphere to create a few centimeters of solidified nitrogen to act as a barrier. She can use this to attack and defend. Like Accelerator's AIM vector shield, the primary function of her ability is to create an armor of super-compressed nitrogen around her, she fights a sniper in volume 15 and Academy city's special sniper rifle is shown to have no effect on her other than to knock her backwards a little. Because of her ability, she carries around a small amount of nitrogen for use at all times.
