Synopsis

Duke Sateriasis Venomania is the only survivor of the massacre that befell his household—a massacre that he himself perpetrated. Ready to end his life, Sateriasis is stopped by a mysterious figure known only as IR. Should he wish to change his fate and gain the affection of those who had previously tormented him, he need only stab himself with the katana that she provides. By doing this, he would make a deal with a demon, granting him the power to charm any woman he desires. He uses these abilities for his own pleasure, building a harem of women to console him through his descent into madness. But when he meets Gumina Glassred, his childhood friend, he is reminded of the painful years spent under her scorn. With thoughts of revenge, he makes Gumina one of his captive followers. As his newfound demonic powers strip him of his humanity, nothing satisfies his carnivorous lust, and Sateriasis seems to have almost become a demon himself. GUMI is an official mascot character of Megpoid (メグッポイド / Meguppoido) which is a singing synthesizer application software powered by Yamaha's Vocaloid2 and was published by INTERNET Co.,Ltd. The avatar character of the software drawn by the illustrator Masami Yuuki (ゆうきまさみ). Gumi was the next Vocaloid to be released from Internet Co., Ltd and had a more retro-futuristic approach than Gakupo had. The name GUMI is from the voice provider Megumi Nakajima's nickname in her childhood. The software name of "Megpoid" is taken from the provider's name "Megumi." The name of "poid" on the end of the name is short for "like Vocaloid," the full implied name of this product is "Megumi-like Vocaloid." Gackt was used as a voice provider after he was recommended to them by another company as a singer who was often cooperative (as Internet Co, Ltd thought that it would be difficult to get a singer to use their voice for a Vocaloid). Gackt also named the Vocaloid (Kamui Gakupo being one phonetic letter off from "Camui Gackt"). He was originally supposed to be released in June 2008, but didn't have a design done at the time. He was released at the end of July after manga artist Kentarou Miura (famous for Berserk) did the design for free because he loved Nico Nico Douga. The name Camui Gackt, spelled properly as Kamui Gakuto, translates to "Divine Power of Music" or "Divine Being of Music," which carries over to his Vocaloid's very similar name. Until Gakupo's release, the only "mature-sounding" male Vocaloid was Kaito; this and his large depth range has led to his popularity, as well as being used for a variety in genres. His voicebank is said to be one of the best in quality. Fan reaction to Gakupo's design was mixed; some thought he was female and others thought that he seemed too flamboyant and effeminate, but he was praised for being unique from the designs of the previous Vocaloids. He is often portrayed as a goof, like Kaito, but also as a pervert or a casanova. His character item is an eggplant, likely based off of his purple hair.
