Synopsis

Japanese-American Kevin Yamagata now authors the renowned detective comic book "Billy Bat" after serving in the Allied Forces in World War II. But as his series becomes a massive hit, Kevin discovers that his famed character, Billy Bat, already existed before within a Japanese comic. Worried that he may have unconsciously copied something he saw during his time there, Kevin returns to Japan to find Billy Bat's original creator and seek permission for him to use their character. However, as he traces back Billy Bat's roots, he finds himself unraveling a dark and twisted history of murders that somehow involve the character he thought he created. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ostensibly, a talking anthropomorphic bat that is the star of several detective comic book series throughout the 20th Century. His true nature and purpose comprise the central mystery of the plot. Francis Xavier himself once mentioned the Bat, himself unsure if the entity was an angel or demon or perhaps both. Zōfū, on the other hands, claims there are two bats, one white and the other black. When The White Bat appears, it always says confusing things, and when The Black Bat appears, it manipulates people to do bad things. No voice actors have been added to this character. Kevin Yamagata is a neisei Japanese-American comic book artist; author of the popular detective series 'Billy Bat'. When he learns he may have unconsciously copied the character from an image he saw while serving as a translator in occupied Japan, he returns to Japan to seek permission to use the Billy Bat character from its original creator. Once in Japan, Kevin finds himself embroiled in a string of murders and finds that his Billy Bat comic is somewhat of a prophecy, as events and details he has drawm in his comic start to mirror real life. Kevin's Japanese name is Kinji Yamagata (山縣金持) and he is said by others to resemble actor Ryo Ikebe. He was born in Orange County, California on November 26, 1923.
