Synopsis

Yuuken "Yuu" Enma is an average Japanese high school student preparing for an upcoming kendo tournament. On the night before the competition, however, a black carriage crashes into him. When he regains consciousness, Yuu finds himself at Night Raven College—a premier academic institution in the magical world of Twisted Wonderland. Only a chosen few with exceptional magical talent are admitted into the school, so it is a mystery how a human with no magic ability ended up here. Although Yuu desires to return home, it is easier said than done. While the school's headmaster searches for a way to send him back, Yuu is assigned manual labor around the campus. But due to the chaos at the school's entrance ceremony following his arrival, Yuu has a target painted on his back as far as Heartslabyul dorm leader Riddle Rosehearts is concerned. Yuu meets and befriends Heartslabyul freshmen Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade; yet soon after, Ace and Deuce land in a situation that results in their expulsion. As the pair seek to redeem themselves, Yuu accompanies them on their perilous mission to fix school property. However, forgiveness does not come easily from the "Crimson Tyrant" in charge of Heartslabyul, who may have an ulterior motive behind his strictness. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The series was published in English as Disney Twisted-Wonderland: Book of Heartslabyul by VIZ Media from July 11, 2023 to July 9, 2024.

Riddle Rosehearts is a second-year and the head of Heartslabyul. He strictly upholds strange rules made by the "Queen of Hearts." He's from a common yet famous family, because his parents are famous doctor mages. He's feared by the rest of the students because of his severe punishments towards those who break the rules. In the past, he endured very severe lessons from his mother. She convinced him that only by perfectly following the rules, even the most severe ones, could one become perfect and have friends. Riddle was very fragile as a child and wished to have a normal life like other children, as well as wanting to have friends. Riddle's unique magic is called "Off with Your Head!" Deuce used to be a delinquent in middle school, but vowed to clean up his act at Night Raven after he heard his mother secretly cry in a phone call to his grandmother. He takes a lot of time solving simple Math problems, such as easy algebra. Deuce's Unique Magic is known as "Bet the Limit!". It allows him to throw another person's magic right back at them. Cater has two older sisters who, according to him, boss him around. Cater is obsessed with the students of Pomefiore, mainly Epel and Vil because of their beauty. According to Cater, in his scary outfit story, his father was a banker and the bank he worked at was branched all over the world and because of that whenever his dad has to move to a different bank his whole family moves with him. they move to a different country once every 2 years. Cater's unique magic is called "Split Card." He is able to split himself into clones that each act independently. It gets harder on Cater with the more clones he makes.
