About this title
Synopsis
Two years have passed since the CCG's raid on Anteiku. Although the atmosphere in Tokyo has changed drastically due to the increased influence of the CCG, ghouls continue to pose a problem as they have begun taking caution, especially the terrorist organization Aogiri Tree, who acknowledge the CCG's growing threat to their existence. The creation of a special team, known as the Quinx Squad, may provide the CCG with the push they need to exterminate Tokyo's unwanted residents. As humans who have undergone surgery in order to make use of the special abilities of ghouls, they participate in operations to eradicate the dangerous creatures. The leader of this group, Haise Sasaki, is a half-ghoul, half-human who has been trained by famed special class investigator, Kishou Arima. However, there's more to this young man than meets the eye, as unknown memories claw at his mind, slowly reminding him of the person he used to be. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ken Kaneki54764 fan favoritesExternal profileAge: 18 (Pre-Aogiri), 19 (Post-Aogiri), Birthday: December 20 Height: 169 cm (Pre-Aogiri), 169.5 cm (Post-Aogiri), 170 cm (Tokyo Ghoul:re) Weight: 55 kg (Pre-Aogiri), 58 kg (Post-Aogiri) Blood type: AB Rc Type: Rinkaku Likes: reading, clean words, intellectual women, hamburgers Originally born as a human, his encounter with a female ghoul under the name of Kamishiro Rize forced him to undergo emergency surgery procedures after his assault by her. Cunning and manipulative, Rize uses her charms and Kaneki's attraction toward her as a means of getting her next "meal." After the attack, Kaneki is rushed to the hospital in a half-dead state with Rize. A doctor of the name Kanou, who secretly experiments with ghouls, humans, and half-ghouls, transplants what Kaneki believes to be a kidney into his body as a means of saving his life in the dire situation. Soon he learns that he had part of Rize's kagune transplanted into him, becoming the first of many human-ghoul experiments Kanou will conduct. Due to the unnatural abundance of RC Cells now present in his body because of Rize's kagune, Kaneki loses the ability to stomach human food, often getting sick or vomiting when ingesting any, and gains the powers of regeneration and kagune usage as a result. Because of his morals and attachment to humanity, Kaneki refuses to consume human beings as a means to sustain himself, even when the meat is obtained through non-violent means, rather he consumes large amounts of coffee, and, when absolutely necessary, will cannibalize other ghouls. Later, he joins with several ghouls, Banjou and Tsukiyama Shuu, in order to reduce the number of ghouls that cause havoc in the world to make the lives of humans better. Due to the nature of his ghoul mask and physical features, Kaneki earns himself the name "One-Eye" among the ghoul-community, and eventually "Centipede" when his kagune takes the form of one after he is put under immense stress, pressure, and anxiety. The CCG eventually dub him to be an SS-Rated ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul:re (Source: Tokyo Ghoul Wiki)

Touka is a ghoul successfully posing as a human and working as a waitress at a cafe which serves as a gathering place for other ghouls, as well as a food resource. She saves Kaneki's life at one point and acts as a reluctant guide to him and his adaptation to the ghoul society. She is very serious, tough and hard-working, trying to keep their district as safe for ghouls and humans as possible. Her powers and strength are also quite great and she makes for a formidable opponent.
Haise Sasaki2381 fan favoritesExternal profileSpecies: Artificial One-Eyed Ghoul Birthdate: April 2nd Age: 23 Height: 170 cm Weight: 58 kg Blood type: AB Rc type: Rinkaku Quinque: Yukimura 1/3 (Koukaku) He is the protagonist of Tokyo Ghoul:re, and is a First Class Ghoul Investigator, the mentor of the Quinx Squad and a member of Team Mado. Haise's duties are overseen by Akira Mado and Kishou Arima. Haise is a self-contained, good-natured individual. As a Ghoul Investigator, he comes off as trustworthy, loyal and devoted. While he portrays a serious demeanour toward his work, Haise is also merciful to some extent, as he believes that an Investigator should not annihilate ghouls unnecessarily. Though he is hailed as the mentor of Quinx, he shows apportioned respect and great concern for his colleagues, pledging a protective streak over them. He also complies with the obligations assigned by his seniors without hesitation. Haise habitually reads books, and is very co-operative, as he'd prefer to work with his group than to single-handedly accomplish the CCG's goals. Haise has a habit of using puns, shown by his conversation with Akira Mado in the Naan restaurant. He also tends to scratch the back of his head when he is thinking hard or feeling uncomfortable. Because of Haise's gentle persona, this leads his subordinates to constantly go out of their way and take the advantage of disobeying him, rendering him incompetent in controlling their actions, and he in turn worries about their safety. Also, unlike Kaneki who accepted his ghoul side, Haise rejects it and seem to be disgusted by his ghoul side as when it tried to convince him to accept it, he ignored it and thought of his mentors to give him courage. Saiko Yonebayashi724 fan favoritesExternal profileSpecies: Quinx Birthday: September 4 Age: 19-20 Height: 143 cm Weight: █0 kg (Censored) Blood type: B Affiliations: CCG's Quinx Squad RC type: Rinkaku Quinque: Bokusatsu No. 2 Like: Sasaki's food, anime, manga, video games Dislikes: work Saiko Yonebayashi is a Rank 2 Ghoul Investigator, a Quinx, and a member of the Quinx Squad. Saiko has two thick sections of hair worn in pigtails with uneven fringed bangs, possibly as a result of her laziness. Her kakugan is located in her left eye because of her status as a Quinx, and her face appears rather youthful; Saiko's true weight is unknown but is believed to be dangerous for her occupation, and she is rather chubby, with notably thick and chubby legs, she also appears to have big breasts. She is very short, especially for her age. Saiko dislikes having to work, as she prefers having a peaceful, happy-go-lucky and carefree life by playing video games and eating junk food excessively. She often oversleeps, which earns her the absence from most missions. While not trying to reduce it, she is apparently embarrassed about her weight, humorously covering it during her introduction. She is excessively lazy to the point of being a hikikomori, unable to remove herself from her room without the intervention and often force of others, even jeopardizing her occupation. Saiko is also depicted as greedy, and heavily involved in her videogames to the point of escapism. She appears to have very acute hearing ability. (Source: Tokyo Ghoul Wikia)
Kuki Urie580 fan favoritesExternal profileSpecies: Quinx Age: 19 Height: 173.5 cm Weight: 60 kg Blood type: O Affiliations: CCG's Quinx Squad - Former squad leader RC type: Koukaku Quinque: Tsunagi (Bikaku) Dislikes: sweet foods He is a Rank 1 Ghoul Investigator, a Quinx and the former Squad Leader of the Quinx Squad. Urie often displays himself as a cool-headed individual, holding a monotonous facial expression the majority of the time. As a Ghoul Investigator, he appears to be very dedicated and stern about his work, to the point where it may seem as though he is ruthlessly slaughtering more ghouls than necessary, which is a habit he often gets berated for. Urie also tends to be quite hasty when investigating the slightest details or signs of a suspect. He has a tendency to execute mission objectives independently, without awaiting the arrival of his fellow team mates, or even requesting their help. This is because he is an ambitious person, and does not wish to share credit with others, as he merely wishes to achieve higher ranks as a Ghoul Investigator. To achieve his personal goals, he is willing to go as far as manipulating his comrades or cause discord within the team. But beneath his ambition and cool-headed demeanor is an insatiable jealousy towards his superiors particularly Sasaki. Urie believes that ghouls, under any circumstance, must cease to exist. He is a person who is always striving for power and as a result constantly looks for ways to one up everyone around him which is shown by asking Professor Shiba to help augments his kagune's power to presumably to get an edge over Sasaki. Urie believes that as an investigator, he must never retreat and will fight on even if it means to strain himself to the end. This belief stemmed from the fact that his father, a special class investigator in charge of the S3 squad, ordered his team members to retreat while he stayed to fight the One-Eyed Owl to the death. He also holds a grudge against Takeomi Kuroiwa and Iwao, for not fighting by his father's side during the Owl battle; and therefore thinks that they are inconsiderate of his loss. Thus, Urie refuses to forgive them. An omake in volume 1, shows that he is a talented painter. (Source: Tokyo Ghoul Wiki)
Tooru Mutsuki290 fan favoritesExternal profileSpecies: Quinx Age: 19-21 Birthday: December 14 Height: 165 cm Weight: 48 kg Blood Type: AB Affiliations: CCG Ward: 1st Ward RC type: Bikaku Quinque: Ifraft (Rinkaku), Abksol (Rinkaku), Black Linshing Nut 16/16 (Koukaku), White Loosting Nut 16/16 (Koukaku) Tooru Mutsuki is a Special Class Ghoul Investigator in a rural branch office of the CCG, a Quinx, and a former member of the Quinx Squad and the TSC. During the beginning of Tokyo Ghoul:re, Mutsuki is a slim, bronze-skinned young adult with dark ivy-colored tresses, although as the series progresses, his hair becomes lighter and he attains a more athletic build. He has pale, olive-colored eyes; however, at the time, his right eye possessed a permanently active kakugan with a dark gray sclera. As a result, he wore a medical eyepatch to conceal it, although eventually, he switches it to a leather one he's given by his former mentor Haise Sasaki as a Christmas gift. During his time as a ghoul investigator, like most of his peers, Mutsuki usually wore formal clothing commonly paired with a short, white trenchcoat. Moreover, he also wears a cropped, strapless binder to flatten his chest, though it more resembles a compression panel wrapped around his torso and held in place by a pair of clips than a standard binder. Due to past traumas, he has a large scar across his upper left pectoral and another one across his right side. Mutsuki is kindhearted and gentle but starts off as shy with little self-confidence. Having constant bouts of anemia, ironically, Mutsuki feels repulsed by blood. Due to being sickly and his low self-esteem, he faces discouragement as a ghoul investigator to the point where he feels as though he is not even needed for the job. He expresses frustration with his own weakness, feeling anger at his lack of ability compared to his comrades. However, he is reliable and hard-working, always following orders in contrast to the more troublesome or lazy members of his team. Though lacking in confidence, he shows a strong desire to help others and does not hesitate to place himself at risk to protect the innocent. He eventually gains a boost in confidence and becomes much more assertive. He takes a more active role in having his teammates work together and begins to branch out to other people. Ginshi Shirazu206 fan favoritesExternal profileSpecies: Quinx Birthday: March 8 Age: 19 Height: 176 cm Weight: 55 kg Affiliations: CCG's Quinx Squad - Squad Leader RC type: Ukaku Quinque: Tsunagi (Bikaku) Ginshi Shirazu is a Rank 3 Ghoul Investigator, and a leader of the Quinx Squad. Shirazu, like most of his teammates, is shown to have great respect for his mentor, Haise Sasaki. However, he is easily manipulated by Urie, and constantly seen accompanying him, the former squad leader, on dangerous assignments. Although he is a competent fighter with a ruthless nature, Urie describes Shirazu as a simple-minded person. This becomes evident when Urie easily manipulates him into thinking that Sasaki is using the Quinx for his own gain. He easily becomes fired up and speaks loudly. He also seems to be quite exaggerated in his expressions and movements. His primary motive for joining the Quinx Squad is to get money in order to pay for treatment to heal his hospitalised sister, Haru, who he was left to take care of after his father committed suicide. He is stated to be poor at tasks that require thought, such as academics or investigation. However, his consideration for others and attention to his surroundings convince Sasaki he has potential as a Squad Leader. In contrast to his loud and violent mannerisms, he is also someone that cares greatly for his team. While prone to bickering with Urie, he shows a gentler side when interacting with Mutsuki or civilians such as Chie. Despite his habit of being easily influenced, he consistently demonstrates a strong admiration for Sasaki, of whom he shares a friendly relationship with. Shirazu has a crush on his superior, Akira Mado, and refers to her as the "Holy Mother" of CCG. His team appear to be aware of this fact. (Source: Tokyo Ghoul Wikia)
