Synopsis

They are called 'Hunters'!" Gon Freecss wants to become a Hunter so he can find his father, a man who abandoned him to pursue a life of adventure. But it's not that simple: only one in one hundred thousand can pass the Hunter Exam, and that is just the first obstacle on his journey. During the Hunter Exam, Gon befriends many other potential Hunters, such as the mysterious Killua; the revenge-driven Kurapika; and Leorio, who aims to become a doctor. Publication notes

As of July 2022, over 84 million copies of Hunter x Hunter have been sold worldwide. The series has been published in English by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump Advanced imprint since April 5, 2005, and as 3-in-1 omnibus volumes since February 18, 2025. It has also been simulpub digitally through MANGA Plus. The series has been released in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC since January 2008; in Spanish by Panini Comics since October 2012; in Italian by Panini Comics since May 20, 2004; and in Polish by Waneko since May 16, 2023. The manga has been serialized irregularly since 2006 due to Yoshihiro Togashi's health problems.

These scarlet eyes were known to be beautiful, being one of the seven most beautiful in the world. Because of this, the Kurta tribe was constantly pursued and eventually massacred. The eyes of the tribe members were all taken away during the massacre. Kurapika is so far the only known survivor with a heart bent on revenge. He strives to have his revenge against the Phantom Troupe as well as recover the eyes of his tribe members. Despite having a heart full of hatred, Kurapika is very kind and loyal towards his friends. Kurapika is from the materialization nen group and from determination, increased the power of his nen ability to the point that it was formidable against the Phantom Troupe. He may at times seem brash and rude, but in the end is very kind towards his friends.
