A very straightforward character who is devoted to awakening Yasuhiko from his coma. His cheerful personality has won him many friends inside The World. Though polite to strangers he shows a rather witty sense of humour to those he's close with. He is the type of person who will stop whatever he's doing to help somebody who's in trouble. He spends a lot of his time online with his friend and partner BlackRose. In the real world Kite is a 14 year old boy in his second year of Junior High. He lives somewhere in Japan and goes to school with his close friend Yasuhiko

He is the Knight of the Azure Sky, as per his titles (given by the web poet W.B. Yates, aka Hokuto) "Souten no Balmung" (Balmung of the Azure Sky/Heaven) and "Fianna no matsuei" (Descendant of Fianna). One of the more powerful denizens of The World, who has been playing long before anyone else listed here, and was one of the original .hackers. In .hack//UdeDen, he was made a System Admin by CC Corp, and he organizes very weird events for the players. He decided to do this after the events of the final episode of .hack//SIGN, UNISON. His class is Blademaster, "sub-class" System Administrator, and uses an angelic-knight avatar. In the 2nd book he is fired as an administrator. He takes on more work than he can handle, often shoving it all to his assistant Reki and falling asleep in front of his computer, putting his character in a napping position.

Starting playing The World after her brother Fumikazu, known as the Wavemaster Kazu in The World, falls into a coma while playing to find out what happened to him she meets Kite. She learns he has similar experience and decides to work along with him. That's when her involvement in the Twilight Incident begins. Known as the one to start the .hacker party with Kite.

Mistral has a goofy and fun personality. She likes hanging around Kite because of his special ability, and wants to see it as much as she can. Mistral's pleasant attitude goes with her wherever she travels in The World. She may appear childish, but her true self is reliable and dedicated. Despite her childish looks and behavoir, she is actually a married and a mother to be. Having to leave the dothackers for a time due to her unborn daughter. Another Birth reveals she and Blackrose were very close, with Blackrose seeing her as a big sister she could reveal all her secrets to,and the two kept in touch whether inside or outside the game through phonecalls and offline meetings. In the Legend of Twilight manga Mistral plays a minor role, only being present when it's revealed she is Mireille's mother and the one who arranged for Kazu (BlackRose's little brother) to come to Shugo's aid.

XXXX introduces Cubia in a PC form. He appears after Kite defeats Skeith, as a strange Twin Blade. He defeats the second Phase Innis without much trouble, apparently on his own. His character has black hair, wears some sort of scarf, and his outfit consists of a very low shirt, and some dark pants with strange symbols. It is thought that this PC is related to the figure in the Cubia core in the canon. He also has access to the Data Drain ability, though it is inherent to him, rather than in an item he holds. Cubia is aware of his role as Kite's Anti-Existence, and desires Kite's Bracelet so that he can free himself from a "destiny" which he does not want. Aura fears that if he succeeds, the results will be beyond even her power to repair. Aura has stated that when she created the Bracelet, Morganna created Cubia in response.
